The Karola Ágai and László Szendrey-Karper Foundation for Vocal and Musical Arts was established in 2011 at the first anniversary of the Kossuth Prize-holder opera singer Karola Ágai’s death.

Its aim is to cure the heritage of the famous singer and her late guitarist husband, over keeping their oeuvre alive by continuing the tradition of the guitar festival that was so important for both of them.

The Esztergom International Guitar Festival as the very first such event in the world was founded by Szendrey-Karper and after his death, under his name and the honorary president for life Karola Ágai was managed by the László Szendrey-Karper International Guitar Festival Foundation.

The new foundation already under both of their names plan annual festivals which in one year concentrate on the guitar and invites singing productions while in the other years reverse. According to the financial abilities the foundation may arrange concerts out of the festivals, too, and release publications.
